      RECORDS MANAGEMENT

Records Management plays a vital role in ensuring an element of rationality in Government in planning/ scheduling its future activities. However, the records cannot be allowed to pile up so as to occupy more area than the maximum extent prescribed for it i.e. 10 % of the total area of an organizational space. In order to keep records within the manageable limit and to maintain it at a low cost, there has to be a regular system of review and weeding of records. Detailed instructions on the subject are available in the Manual on Office Procedure as well as in the CBI Administration Manual & CBI Crime Manual. During the period, 115 old files were destroyed in HO The branches are also required to follow the instructions on weeding out of old records.
