CBI REGISTERS CASE AGAINST MCD AND PWD OFFICIALS OF DELHI
CBI has registered a case against an Executive Engineer, an Assistant Engineer and a Junior Engineer of the Building Department of MCD, Karol Bagh Zone and other unknown officials for showing undue favour to private builders by allowing commercial construction in Block No. 5, plot no. 55, 56 and 57 WEA, Karol Bagh, New Delhi area which is strictly classified for residential purpose. 60-70 shops have been constructed on these plots for commercial purpose unauthorisedly which could not have been possible without connivance of these officials of MCD. These officials allegedly did not take suitable action as per the building regulations of MCD and allegedly allowed illegal construction.
During searches conducted at the official and residential premises of these officials, incriminating documents have been recovered. Movable and immovable assets worth about Rs. 19.45 lakh in the name of the Executive Engineer and his family members were recovered while from the house of the Assistant Engineer assets worth Rs. 4.37 lakh and from the house of the Junior Engineer assets worth Rs. 24.35 lakh have been recovered so far.
CBI registered a sperate case against an Assistant Accounts Officer, PWD Quarters, 17, Police Training School, Malviya Nagar, New Delhi for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. After registering the case searches were carried out at seven places in Delhi and Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh) during which several movable and immovable assets including a farm house at Wazirpur, Gurgaon and a Cyber Cafe at Trilokpuri, New Delhi were detected. The estimated value of the assets detected is estimated to over Rs. one crore.
