CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST A MINISTER, PWD, GOVT OF NCT, DELHI; THEN ENGINEER-IN-CHIEF, PWD & OTHERS AND CONDUCTS SEARCHES

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case U/s 120-B of IPC r/w 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of the PC Act, 1988 against a Minister of PWD, Govt of NCT (GNCT), Delhi & the then Engineer-in-Chief; the then Principal Director (Projects); the then Deputy Director (Admn.); the then Project Manager, Flyover-21, all of PWD, Govt of NCT (GNCT), Delhi and other unknown officials of PWD, GNCT, Delhi to investigate the allegations of irregularities in the award of tender to a private company for hiring a creative team for PWD works. A Preliminary Enquiry was earlier conducted to look into the matter. It was alleged that the accused persons while working in the capacity of public servants, deliberately changed the terms and conditions in the NIT so as to make the private company eligible for participating in the tender. It was also alleged that the budget requirements were also met from some other unrelated heads unauthorisedly which was found improper and in violation of various guidelines & regulations.

Searches were conducted today at various places in Delhi in the premises of the accused persons which led to recovery of certain documents.

Investigation is continuing.
