TEN YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN DIG OF BSF AND FOUR OTHERS IN A SEX SCANDAL CASE

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Chandigarh has today sentenced Sh. K.C. Padhi, the then DIG, Border Security Force (BSF) & Mohd. Ashraf Mir, the then DSP, CID, J&K Police, both to undergo 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. One lakh each and three private persons i.e. Shabbir AhmadLaway @ ShabbirKala, Shabbir Ahmad Langoo @ Lone & Masood Ahmad @ Maqsood(Pvt.), all three to undergo 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 50,000/- each in a Sex Scandal case of Srinagar. The Court further directed that the fine amount be applied for the payment to the victim as compensation for loss of reputation, dignity & mental harassment and loss of opportunity of education.

CBI registered the case on 10.05.2006 and took over the investigation of the instant case which was initially registered at Police Station, Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar (J&K) on 14.03.2006 on a complaint alleging therein that a fruit vendor received a CD/Cassette from a minor boy. The CD contained an obscene film belonging to a girl of their mohalla and photographs. During investigation, it was also alleged that the four girls including one minor were sexually exploited by accused persons. These girls were allegedly taken to hotels in Srinagar and were also exploited at the residence of one of the accused.

After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet against nine accused in the Designated Court.

The Trial Court found the said five accused guilty and convicted them. The two accused were acquitted by the Court. Two other accused had passed away during the course of trial.
